Enable Wireless Debugging and Pair ADB Over Wi‑Fi

Difficulty: Advanced No apps needed Android 11+

Skip the USB cable. On Android 11+, Wireless debugging lets you pair your phone with a computer’s Android Debug Bridge (adb) on the same Wi‑Fi network—official Android Developers flow.

Checklist // Before You Start

What You Need

Security: Wireless debugging is for development. Only pair machines you trust. Unpair / revoke adb authorizations when finished. Prefer a private Wi‑Fi network (guest/isolation networks can block device-to-device traffic).

  1. Step 1: Enable Developer options

Settings > About phone → tap Build number seven times until you see “You’re now a developer.”

  2. Step 2: Turn on Wireless debugging

Settings > System > Developer options (or search Wireless debugging).

Open Wireless debugging, allow it for this network. Optional: always allow on this network (trusted network).

  3. Step 3: Pair with a code (adb)

On the phone: Pair device with pairing code (or Pair using pairing code). Note the IP address, port, and six-digit code.

    On the computer (in platform-tools):

    adb pair IP:PORT

Enter the pairing code when prompted. Pairing is usually once until you Forget the device or revoke adb authorizations.

  4. Step 4: Connect & verify

After pairing, use the connection IP/port shown under Wireless debugging (often different from the pairing port) if you need adb connect IP:PORT. Then run adb devices.

Android Studio: Run → Pair Devices Using Wi‑Fi (QR or pairing code) per Android Developers.

  5. Step 5: Unpair when done

Wireless debugging → Paired devices → your PC → Forget, or Developer options → Revoke USB debugging authorizations. Turn Wireless debugging off if you don’t need it.
